From moving tons of rock at mining sites to moving trailers of goods down the highway, anywhere large vehicles are at work, truck and transport service technicians are at work. When you graduate, you could find employment as an apprentice with dealer service departments, trailer manufacturers, trucking fleet operators, government highway departments, and independent repair shops. Mechanics with experience in diesel service are in exceptionally high demand across the industry. As your experience grows and you progress from apprentice to journeyperson, technicians can often advance to supervisory positions within their workplace.
Some technicians also choose to expand their training to other types of heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, and loaders, which opens up a whole new world of employment options as heavy-duty mechanics.
Safety equipment and a multi-tester are required, and can be purchased at the college.
