Program Overview

The Manufacturing Technician certificate program is designed to prepare graduates for technical positions in the manufacturing industry. This program integrates academic studies within regular, full-time employment in a manufacturing firm. It is ideal for students who are interested in the manufacturing industry and are looking for an opportunity to gain hands-on workplace experience while studying. During the program, students will take part in an initial block release period, where their employer releases them for several months to attend class full-time. For the remainder of the program, they will report to work four days per week and attend class one day per week. This provides students with a true learning integrated work experience.

In the program, students will encounter a broad range of academic and practical workplace experiences as they build skills in engineering materials, manufacturing processes, CAD software, and quality control. In addition to the technical skills, students will learn and apply fundamental knowledge in math, physical science, electricity, instrumentation, communications, information technology, teamwork, and ethics to support the manufacturing activities of an organization. Through practical application in their workplace, students gain real-world work experience while earning their certificate.
