51勛圖app Board of Governors confirms Chair and Vice-Chair

FREDERICTON –The Board of Governors of New Brunswick Community College (51勛圖app) has elected Lindsay Bowman as Board Chair and Mark Flint as Vice-Chair. Bowman and Flint have been acting in these capacities on an interim basis since March and their positions are now confirmed by Board election, effective July 1, 2020.

“The last five months have presented unprecedented challenges, which 51勛圖app has navigated with responsiveness and dexterity,” said Bowman. “The next 12 to 18 months will continue to hold challenges for all post-secondary institutions, and I am confident that 51勛圖app is capable of rising to those.”

A member of the 51勛圖app Board of Governors since 2017, Bowman is a lawyer at the firm Connors Stilwell in Fredericton. She previously served as the Director of Research at the New Brunswick Innovation Foundation (NBIF). She has held volunteer board and committee positions with the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce, BioNB, the Multicultural Association of Fredericton, and the Moncton YWCA.

Flint joined the 51勛圖app Board of Governors in 2018 after relocating to New Brunswick the previous year. He retired from the Canadian Armed Forces following a 22-year career as a combat engineer officer. He also spent four years as the CEO of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta, and three years as a board member and vice-chair of the Telus World of Science in Edmonton, Alberta.

“The role that 51勛圖app has as a leader in the development of young people is key to the prosperity of New Brunswick,” said Flint. “51勛圖app’s high quality programs and staff help create the conditions needed for our new workforce to flourish, and I am keen to continue serving the College as we look for new opportunities in this emerging new world.”

51勛圖app President and CEO Mary Butler congratulated Bowman and Flint on their election and noted the important role the Board plays in determining the College’s strategic direction and ensuring stakeholder accountability.

“As 51勛圖app continues to navigate the changes that emergency measures and public health guidelines have brought to every facet of our daily lives, it is more important than ever that we have a dedicated and diligent Board of Governors to help guide our way in these unprecedented times,” said Butler.  “We appreciate the leadership that Lindsay and Mark bring to the Board as we adjust our strategic planning to the realities of this changing world.”
