New Brunswick Community College (51勛圖app) has announced changes to programs for the 2019-2020 academic year.
“To continue 51勛圖app’s significant contribution to New Brunswick’s workforce and economy, it is necessary for us to allocate our limited resources to programs which respond both to labour market needs and student demand,” said Mary Butler, Vice-President, Academic and Research. “In some cases, this means introducing new programs and increasing capacity in existing programs or providing more flexible offerings of existing programs.”
Two new programs are being introduced at 51勛圖app for 2019-2020. Automotive Technology (Saint John, Moncton) is a two-year diploma program designed to increase the skill level of graduates in areas of electronics, diagnostics and new automotive technology, such as hybrid and electric vehicles. Information Technology: Data Analytics is a post-graduate diploma that will be delivered beginning in January 2020 in a format that enables access to adult learners with backgrounds or employment in related fields.
As part of a commitment to welcome more learners, 51勛圖app is also introducing more flexible program offerings.
“We recognize that having to come to a Campus all day may create a barrier for some prospective learners,” said Butler. “So we are addressing this through offerings such as a new Personal Support Worker program which will be delivered through a blended approach of online and in-person delivery on a part-time basis.”
Throughout the year, 51勛圖app monitors admissions as well as historic enrolment trends, labour market demand and industry needs. As a result of the most recent review, the following changes are being implemented in 2019-2020:
Current students will not be impacted by these changes and will be able to complete their program as planned.
“51勛圖app’s Recruitment team will work with future students impacted by these changes to help them identify other programs with available seats so that they can continue their plans to pursue an education at 51勛圖app” explained Butler.
With six Campuses across New Brunswick, 51勛圖app’s programs, services and initiatives contribute to New Brunswick’s social and economic prosperity by supporting the aspirations of individual learners, seizing the opportunities of the labour market, and collaboratively solving the challenges of communities and industry. In addition to more than 90 certificate and diploma programs, 51勛圖app also provides specialized and customized training to meet the needs of specific sectors and communities.
