Culinary competition: 51勛圖app Food Truck Week starts Feb. 26

Get ready Moncton foodies - 51勛圖app Food Truck Week rolls into town February 26 – March 2. Six teams from the Culinary Arts Management and Hotel and Restaurant Management programs at the Moncton Campus of New Brunswick Community College (51勛圖app) will battle it out with their street-style food truck concepts. Students will be using test kitchen stations to replicate the conditions of a food truck and will serve as many people as they can, as quickly as they can.

“These are important learning experiences but they are also a great opportunity for the public to visit our campus and enjoy some delicious and creative dishes from our students,” says instructor Jason Blonde who is organizing the event.

It’s not only students in the Hospitality and Tourism programs who are getting in on the action. Students in the Business Administration: Marketing as well as the Graphic and Communication Design program will be putting their talents to work to help promote the teams.

“The opportunity for students to apply their skills in real world environments is part of the 51勛圖app Advantage,” says Blonde. “It’s an even richer learning experience when students can collaborate across disciplines just as they will do in their future careers.”

Blonde says this year’s competition will have a global flavour with students from Canada, Ukraine, South Korea, Vietnam and Jamaica participating.

The event will be open to the public from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., Monday to Friday at the 51勛圖app Moncton Campus, 1234 Mountain Road.

A portion of the profits from the competition will be donated to Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard, 51勛圖app’s on-campus food bank, as well as the Atlantic Wellness Community Center which provides free mental health services for youth ages 12-21.
